Zero Millennium Countdown

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Event Overview:

After the long awaited event of the century, after all the hype and fanfare, we made it to the threshold of infinity and the brink of the new era.

The Globe became a massive countdown party. It gave us two thousand reasons to come together and party with our brothers and sisters in Malaysia.

No matter how the masses saw the millennium and their beliefs about its significance, we were all in the moment together on December 31st, 1999 through the sunrise of January 1st, 2000.

This event was co-produced with an old friend from my Singapore days Joe Ghazzal (DJ Hardy from Downtown Discotheque) and his local team Global 2000 Sdn Bhd; On my end, I have chosen my mentor Solomon Mansoor to be the Chief-Producer along with our entire in-house team from our US office to hold down a two month long production ordeal.

ZERO MILLENNIUM COUNTDOWN WAS A MASSIVE ASIA MILLENNIUM COUNTDOWN CELEBRATION!

This event marked one of South East Asia’s largest millennium celebrations. It took place at the Malaysia’s capital of Kuala Lumpur. The event welcomed the New Year with a monumental concert production at the Subang Capital Airport (previous International airport) – The countdown took place on an operating airport’s runway with aircraft flying over dropping confetti to the crowd at midnight (the airport resumed their operation after the event at 6 AM).

The event was a sold out event with 60,000 attendees. Featured one massive countdown stage with fireworks displays and two other clubbing stages inside the airport.

Zero Millennium Countdown remained one of the proudest events we have ever produced!

ACA World Sound Festival

Acapulco, Mexico

Event Overview:

Beginning on the Mexican “Day of the Dead” and spanning three days, the ACA World Sound Festival combined four elaborate stages and the most advanced visual production technology available with more than 60,000 guests attending from Mexico and around the world. The result was a true international spectacle based upon a single, planetary theme, yet evolving musically, visually, and emotionally from each day to the next. The team at the ACA World Sound Festival established a new level of quality in the dance experience – by producing a new milestone in music history.

Professionalism, creative vision, and charitable intent intersected here to define the next evolution in musical experience. The MillionWishes Latin American Charity Fund (MWLACF) was the first manifestation of MillionWishes’ dream of transforming dance festivals from purely profit-driven enterprises into powerful sources of charity for events around the world. The MWLACF takes that first step forward towards a global ideal while focusing its energies upon local needs. Founded by the MillionWishes World Wide Team and the ACA Executive Director Michael Hahn and Co-producer Tef Foo, along with their Mexican Producer Partners Pedro Moctezuma and Ramon Llarena, the fund was designed to give back to the community that has so passionately supported this festival at every turn.

MillionWishes Latin America Charity Effort:

From the first year’s proceeds, the ACA Sound Fest and MillionWishes Latin America established a trust fund of $120,000 to help with the local needs of Mexican communities. On April 2, 2001, a press conference took place in Acapulco, joining the ACA World Sound Festival partners and local authorities for the official presentation of the initial funds that distributed to the following charities:

  • $25,000 went to DIF-National System for Integral Development of Families. DIF is a governmental organization that promotes sustainable social welfare. Grants were distributed for surgeries for cross-eyed and underprivileged children.
  • $10,000 went to GAVIH, A.C. (Recuperation and Improvement for Patients with HIV/AIDS) Proceeds were distributed for supplies, medicine, and education of victims.
  • $20,000 went towards building a new kindergarten in the Ejido of El Podrido, an Acapulco low-income community.
  • $20,000 went to Police and Fire Department of Acapulco for new equipment and supplies.

(The rest of the funds remain in the trust fund and are distributed to other charitable organizations as the year proceeds.)

Spiritualize

Portland, Oregon

MillionWishes Worldwide Presents: Spiritualize

In coordination with Direct Drive and our Northwest brothers and sisters, we were honored to present Spiritualize held at The Portland Metropolitan Expo Center: where mankind, music, and artistry intertwine. The Spiritualize event raised the bar for electronic music festivals in the Northwest electronic scene. World-class musicians, artists, and producers worked together to prepare a rendering of musical, visual, and theatrical flair to manifest our dream of the techno opera. Once again keeping our charity mission close to heart, Spiritualize also sold some charity tickets whose proceeds went to Greenhouse of the Salvation Army Cascade Division, a Portland sanctuary for homeless youth.

Charity Overview

The concept of the MillionWishes event revolves around the charity effort. We desire a reason for celebration and a positive difference being made through every event. In Portland, Oregon, we have selected a down-to-earth, practical charity called Greenhouse that provides a sanctuary for homeless youths. Greenhouse is a part of the Salvation Army Cascade Division in Oregon and uses its resources to provide youths with guidance, nurturing, and support.

It is vital to our purpose that we build a close connection to the surrounding communities, and through a donation to Greenhouse, we know that we will be influencing the lives of the less fortunate among us.

Some details about Greenhouse from their website:

“There are no length of service restrictions. Youth voluntarily access all services. The center is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. The alternative school is open M-F, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Salvation Army Greenhouse is located at 820 S.W. Oak Street, in Portland OR, 97205. Contact Claudine Walker at 503.239.1245 for more information.

Big thanks go out to everyone who helped and contributed to our charity effort through the Spiritualize event in Portland, Oregon. We were able to raise $1,874.80 for Greenhouse. While up in Portland, we visited Greenhouse and were extremely impressed with the way that it supports and cares for youth and also provides opportunities for growth.

Together As One

Los Angeles, California

Event Overview:

Together As One 2001, held at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and the Los Angeles Sports Arena, is the earliest and the first use of a stadium venue in America for an electronic music dance event.

This New Year’s Eve event, hailed in the new millennium, drew more than 40,000 attendees. MillionWishes teamed up with Go Ventures, Insomniac, and Coolworld to make this event a monumental reality. Together As One and MillionWishes generated proceeds for donation to the Las Familias Del Pueblo group through a simple and effective discount ticket sale and on-site donation activation.

On the eve of New Year 2001, the Olympic Torch at the Coliseum’s stadium burned brightly through the night as the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum once again made history. For the first time in America, an Olympic-sized stadium overflowed with the joy of thousands dancing in unity. The dawning of a new era of Electronic Dance history landed upon us. We witnessed an event for the ages with fireworks exploding above this mega New Year’s Eve countdown!

Charity Effort:

The final donation to Las Familias Del Pueblo came to a grand total of $8,258.00. The MillionWishes Team was extremely happy to see everybody’s hard work culminate in this generous contribution. Big thanks go out to Go Ventures, Insomniac, and the Together As One team, Alice Callaghan, and Eva at Las Familias Del Pueblo, and everybody who contributed!

SoCal 10 on The Queen Mary Ship

Long Beach, California

Event Co-produced with Pasquale Rotella & Disco Donnie

Years ago the way we connect online took a physical form. The “Massive” was born at “Plantasia 1994,” when legions of SoCal fans converged at The Orange Show Event Center for the first time for an event that attracted more than ten thousand people. Massives grew from there, evolving naturally as the social set used the Internet to find each other. The event scene quickly eclipsed the clubs as people used the network to fuel larger and larger events.

Eventually, promoters from all over Southern California came together in support of a vibrant regional event community that hosted the world’s hottest young producers, DJ’s and labels. As the community grew, events attracted artists and designers, creating an aesthetic that would visually define the American Dance Scene. The Massive SoCal influence quickly spread to all the cities within driving distance, connecting people and parties in Las Vegas, San Francisco, Arizona and Mexico.

Hundreds of events and a decade later, the movement continues to attract huge crowd and generates fantastic energy. Millions of people have attended SoCal Massives, and the energy they created has blossomed into major independent festivals across North America.

At So Cal 10 we reunited the original stars of the SoCal Massives, the dancers, DJ’s, Live Acts and Visual Artists that made SoCal Culture a worldwide phenomenon.

SoCal 10 connected our past with the future by using the entire Queen Mary complex to host a festival big enough for the SoCal faithful. For the first time in Dance Music History, we grooved everywhere in the Queen Mary Ship, dancing in First Class elegance and splendor!

Goliath Festival

Mexico City, Mexico

Event Overview:

Goliath Music Festival, which features over 50 live music acts on 5 massive stages, was celebrated by 75,000 people, making it the largest “next generation” music festival ever produced in Mexico City.

The goal of this ground-breaking music festival was to be an inspiration for attendees who were able to see an eclectic mix of musical genres performed by some of the world’s leading artists.

The unique production-installation-design concept immersed concert-goers in a magical audio and visual experience while the hospitality service and event management provided festival-goers with a comfortable and truly memorable experience.

Goliath’s intelligent programming successfully brought together a massive audience that promoted empowerment and mutual support. The crowd was continually encouraged to continue being good citizens and to locally make positive changes on the planet.

This type of world community connection, collaboration, and celebration is the Goliath vibe. It reminds us of the classic “Together We Are Giants” celebration.
